Just as music itself is constantly changing, the technical possibilities of recording sound and preserving it as a contemporary document for future generations are also constantly changing. Many generations have developed and used a wide variety of technical equipment for recording and playing back music. The recording and playback devices became smaller and lighter with a focus on portability and improved sound quality.
From the Edison coil to the tape cassette to the compact disc to digital streaming, one type of documentation has not only stood the test of time, but has recently been experiencing a diverse renaissance. The young generations have rediscovered the record and its sonic advantages, as well as the ceremony of slowed down music enjoyment.
Only a few mastering studios worldwide still know about the precision mechanical craft of producing vinyl masters. Fully intact cutting machines and knowledge of how to maintain them have become even rarer.
We are pleased to announce that Studio C is currently prepared and will soon be ready for cutting vinyl masters on a legendary Neumann cutting lathe.
